The Sigma 35mm f/1.4 is a beautiful lens. I had the Nikon mount version months back and it was one of my favourite lenses until I traded-in that lens for a Tamron 15-30 VC. It was a move I have regretted since, mainly because its signature DOF feel and sharpness is hard to beat. It's a heavy lens no doubt but it's worth the weight.

So, when Sigma comes out with a combo kit of the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 in a Canon mount along with the MC-11 Canon mount converter / adapter to the Sony E-mount, I quickly grabbed a set.
Auto focus is spot on. All other features work like a FE mount native lens. No complaints here. (Edit: All is well with AF-S and face detection. AF-C is not reliable. Eye detection is not supported.)
If you're interested to purchase it in Malaysia, you may still be able to get a unit from [ShaShinKi] or elsewhere from [Amazon].

Conclusion
After a few days shooting with this lens attached to the Sony A7ii, I feel that the camera doesn't really balance well in this combination. In order to have a firm grip and better balance when using the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 on the Sony A7ii, I find that it's best to attach the Sony VG-C2EM Vertical Battery Grip.
Add the Peak Design Slide [ShaShinKi] [Amazon]and it's good to go !
The Sigma 35mm f1.4 lens combination with the Sony a7 ii is now balanced with
the addition of the Sony VG-C2EM Vertical Battery Grip.

When I am travelling, I would prefer to use the Sony Zeiss 35mm f2.8 ZA [Amazon] lens instead.
The Sony Zeiss 35mm f2.8 ZA lens is very lightweight for travelling. |

I have tried a few shots with the Canon EF 50mm f1.8 ii lens attached to the Sigma MC-11. The combination seems to work well with reliable auto focusing results in AF-S mode. Face recognition is also working.

At 130g, the Canon EF 50mm f1.8 ii is obviously alot lighter (and smaller) than the Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art lens (at 665g) and thus, the vertical grip is not a must in this lens+body combination.
